Hey, guys. I am currently reading a book written by Jen Sincero (if you don’t know who she is- you need to). Each book she writes emphasizes the importance of a positive mindset. I really connected with this because I try my best to ensure my mindset is on the positive side of the spectrum even through the hard times.
If you have been following me, or know me personally, you likely know I have been traveling a rough road. There have been bumps, hills, and even brick walls at times. But, what can you do? Keep going.
I read a quote the other day that basically said ‘your story will be someone else’s survival guide someday.’ Someday, I will tell you more of my story. But, what matters the most now is my children are happy. That’s honestly what matters the most.
Mamas… as long as our kids are happy we are happy… right? Of course.
There’s No Perfect Life
What I am getting at here is there will always be something tormenting you if you allow it to. My experiences could easily weigh me down, and believe me, there are times the weight is heavy. Losing someone you love isn’t exactly easy much less what we have gone through.
For example: Losing someone you loved.
If you’re ‘alone,’ there are times you may feel lonely. You might miss the snuggles. You might miss the good times. Heck, you’d be surprised at how much you miss simply sitting on the couch cuddled up watching your favorite show. You know… that one you only watched if you were together.
You’ll get through it. If you are going through this experience, you will get through it but it will take time. You’ll notice your soul isn’t bleeding quite as much as time passes. The scar will always be there and there may be a stitch or two missing, but everything will be alright and you’ll move forward.
The Good Stuff
What’s the good stuff? The good stuff includes all the things you’re happy for. And, my my my. There is so much.
What am I most grateful for personally? Obviously, my kids come first. I am a mother first and foremost. But, I am grateful we have a home to live in they love. I am grateful they have friends. I am grateful for how well they’re both doing in school. I am grateful for my company. I am grateful for all of you who are reading this right now and serving as my support.
I am grateful to be alive.
Once you have been through SO much, you learn how to look at life from a different perspective. I guess trauma does that to you. I have now been divorced twice, I have almost died numerous times, and I have gone through the unthinkable.
You learn to look around and see the tree outside whose colors are so mesmerizing you’re entranced as if it has taken hold of you. Music connects to your soul as if the lyrics were stitched into it. Every small thing holds greatness and you see miracles surrounding you.
People Get the Wrong Idea
For those of you who are positive, don’t let negativity weigh you down. Being ‘fake’ is what some people may call your positivity. That’s not true and don’t let them talk you into believing negative thoughts make you ‘real.’
Everyone, and I mean everyone, has negative thoughts at some point or another. The point in life is to brush them off your shoulder and grab hold tightly of the good ones.
Instead of ‘why did this happen to me,’ try thinking ‘what has this taught me?’ What have your experiences done to you? Every experience, person, etc. has shaped you into the person you are today. If you aren’t who you want to be, what steps are you going to take to get there?
Set goals. Once you achieve those goals, set new goals. Build a dream. What do you have to accomplish to get there?
WRITE THEM DOWN. I can’t emphasize that point enough. Make sure you write them down. Write your goals down every single day. Write your dream down every single day. Get into that mindset. Keep that mindset. The time will pass and if you’re taking the steps, you’ll notice how much progress you are making.
The Song That’s Everyday
There’s a song I listen to every day before work; before I start writing. Or, sometimes while I am writing. There’s actually a few I listen to, but I want to share this one with you.
That’s all I have for you today.
Until next time, guys.
