Girl Wash Your Face: One of My Favorites

As I am sitting here listening to Audible, I was wondering what topic I wanted to share with you today. Then, I thought, why not share the book I am reading? I’ll be totally honest; I have read this book three times. The first two times I was holding the actual book and a few days ago I was looking for inspiration, so here we go time #3!

If you’re into books that give a boost to both your career and personal growth, you’re in for a treat! And just to clear the air, I’m not getting any kickbacks for shouting it out—I’m just genuinely excited and thought you might want to catch some of these good vibes too!

Hey, have you ever dived into the world of Rachel Hollis? Let me tell you, she’s not just any ordinary self-help guru. She’s made some serious waves in the book world. She didn’t stop at writing; Rachel’s also a dynamic speaker, and her RISE conferences? Absolutely electric! She’s transformed from a blogger to a motivational powerhouse, helping countless women navigate life’s challenges. Her journey and achievements are seriously impressive.

Despite her achievements, she is still humble and has exposed herself in this book tremendously.

Girl Wash Your Face Book Summary

Rachel gets real about the lies we often tell ourselves—you know, the ones like “I’m not good enough” or “I’ll start tomorrow.” With a mix of personal anecdotes, she tackles these lies head-on, reminding us that we’re in control of our own stories. Each chapter focuses on a different lie, and Rachel pairs it with real-life experiences (some hilarious, others heartbreaking) to show how she overcame it.

Think of it as a blend of heartfelt confessions and life coaching. By the end, you’ll probably feel like giving yourself a pep talk in the mirror! It’s a wake-up call for anyone feeling stuck or in need of a nudge to chase their dreams. And trust me, after reading it, you’ll totally want to wash your face and take on the world!

Girl Wash Your Face Quotes

To get a sense of what kind of book this is, check out these quotes that come directly from Rachel herself:

  • “You, and only you, are ultimately responsible for who you become and how happy you are.”
  • “Comparison is the death of joy, and the only person you need to be better than is the one you were yesterday.”
  • “Know this one great truth: you are in control of your own life. You get one and only one chance to live, and life is passing you by.”
  • “Your dream is worth fighting for, and while you’re not in control of what life throws at you, you are in control of the fight.”
  • “Life is not supposed to overwhelm you at all times. Life isn’t meant to be merely survived—it’s meant to be lived.”
  • “Your life is supposed to be a journey from one unique place to another; it’s not supposed to be a merry-go-round that brings you back to the same spot over and over again.”
  • “What if the hard stuff, the amazing stuff, the love, the joy, the hope, the fear, the weird stuff, the funny stuff, the stuff that takes you so low you’re lying on the floor crying and thinking, How did I get here? . . . What if none of it is happening to you? What if all of it is happening for you?”
  • “Someone else’s opinion of you is none of your business.”
  • “Girl, get ahold of your life. Stop medicating, stop hiding out, stop being afraid, stop giving away pieces of yourself, stop saying you can’t do it. Stop the negative self-talk, stop abusing your body, stop putting it off for tomorrow or Monday or next year. Stop crying about what happened and take control of what happens next. Get up, right now. Rise up from where you’ve been, scrub away the tears and the pain of yesterday, and start again . . . Girl, wash your face!”
